Niko Garrido is a Community Manager at our Gilroy location who has a strong passion for coworking and the community it offers. He tells us some of the reasons he enjoys his role at Greenhouse as much as he does.
What’s your background?
Hello everyone – my name is Niko and I am the new Community Manager at Greenhouse Coworking in Gilroy! My background is in public relations. Before working for Greenhouse Coworking, I was a salesperson for Marc Jacobs. I worked with oversea bulk buyers, managing their large quantity purchases, and customer service. I also worked in event planning and DJ performing for a pop-up called The Rabbit Hole. We held music shows, art and clothing venues, poetry nights, and movie nights with a surprise guest, film director Joe Talbot. He did a Q/A for his film The Last Black Man in San Francisco.
What brought you to Satellite Workplaces?
Ever since working with my friends at The Rabbit Hole I always wanted to find a place in community building. My cousin owns a Coworking studio in the Philippines called Nook. I watched him build it from the ground up from 2017 to now. I love all the things he does for his workplace. He brings people together not only through his lovely studio, but also through the events he organizes and hosts there. With that being said, I’m happy to have found Greenhouse. I feel like this is what I’m meant to do – create communities and bring people together.
What do you love about working at Satellite Workplaces?
It is my third week working at Greenhouse and I already love the togetherness this workplace brings. People here are easy to talk to. Working with the Satellite team has been great. I like that we all care about building off new ideas and share the same views in community building.
What’s your favorite thing about your members?
Our members are super cool. I enjoy seeing the Digital Nest team and think their work is amazing. Carolina is so sweet and passionate about her work, and I really admire her philosophy.
What’s your favorite thing about your Satellite location?
One of my favorite things about this location is how open it is. The sun shines perfectly here which makes the space feel more alive. And our location! We’re in the heart of downtown Gilroy which has been experiencing a lot of development. There are block parties, parades, and many places opening up around us which is great for community building.
What’s something unexpected about working at Greenhouse?
I knew Greenhouse worked in media with CMAP TV, but I didn’t realize how much these resources were utilized. I even met the mayor of Gilroy on my second day working here while she was filming in the studio. That’s a big change of pace for me!
What’s something you’re excited about right now?
I am very excited to start planning more events. I think this is a great way to market our location to Gilroy. I want people in our city to participate in workshops and events and hope they spread the word about our lovely workplaces to others to either become a member or bring more people that would like to be a part of our community.
Tell us about yourself outside of work.
I started DJing about 3 years ago and it’s been great. I’m a resident DJ at Cardiff in Campbell and I am interested in doing weddings and other events of that caliber. I can play any genre and my style is playing more edits than originals. I’m trying to transition into a House/Techno and Disco style because I enjoy playing that most. It’s great seeing people’s reactions when I play music – a lot of dancing which is great for business.

Hi! My name is Olivia and I’m the Community Manager at Satellite Workplace and Digital Media Studio in Santa Cruz. My background is in sports and sports facilities management. Before Satellite, I worked for the Santa Cruz Warriors where I learned about broadcasting, eventually becoming a member of the broadcast team.
I started working for Community Television of Santa Cruz County (CTV) as an operator in 2020 and transitioned to Community Manager of our coworking space in May of this year.
I love working around various digital media producers and artists. Our members are always respectful and bring bright smiles to the office. It’s exciting to come to work and feel a strong sense of community.
Something I did not expect when I started working for CTV and Satellite Workplaces is the excitement I find when learning about our members’ projects and creative outlets.
One of my favorite things about our location is the proximity to amazing food and the beach. I also really enjoy the bright atmosphere and open feel of the building.`
Outside of work, I love to read any and all types of books and I love being at the beach. My ideal days off are spent reading at the beach all day.

Ron Bonhagen was born and raised in New Orleans and spent his early adult life in the Washington, DC (Northern Virginia) area with an extensive career in sales and marketing. Ron moved with his family to California as a real estate broker and property manager in 2007 to the Campbell (Pruneyard) area. As a small business owner and member of business groups, like the Campbell Chamber of Commerce, Ron loves networking and collaborating with other small business owners.
The Satellite Workplaces members at The Pruneyard in Campbell love the fantastic location! The Pruneyard has undergone a transformation in the last couple of years and now maintains its prominence as one of Silicon Valley’s premier destinations to go to work and to enjoy life with unparalleled cuisine and retail shopping!
After work, Ron enjoys spending time with his two boys, keeping up with the latest news in sustainable energy technologies, and going to local electric vehicle events, which all align well with Satellite Workplaces’ mission!

I live and breathe coworking these days, and the greatest part of that is meeting and chatting with our wonderful members. You’re all doing such exciting things!
I’ve lived in the Santa Cruz Mountains for many years, raising my four kids here. Over time, though, I’ve gone through a lot of iterations: living in England for three years (two kids born there); living in West Virginia for eight years with no running water, growing most of our food (two more kids); starting a technology business and growing its two niche products to 90% of the world market before selling to a Fortune 1000 business; and in the middle, getting degrees in Economics and Public Policy.
You may notice the software that is in the background of everything you do at the Satellite: Deskworks. That’s the main thing I work on these days, making it easier for people to create the workplace of the future. A future in which people can work anywhere in the world virtually while connecting in their chosen community, avoiding commutes and the resultant CO2 emissions, working closer to their kids, and generally improving their quality of life.
That’s why I’m here.

Hi there! I am Lunna Mendez, the new Community Manager at Greenhouse Coworking in Gilroy. It is a pleasure to be a part of this wonderful community of members.
I was born and raised in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, where I graduated from Law School and had a few years of experience working mostly with Intellectual Property. I speak Portuguese, Spanish, English and a little bit of Italian too.
I recently moved to Gilroy and am happy to be working with people that are always driven to give their best to their communities. Every day I feel inspired to give my best and help our members to have a memorable experience at Greenhouse Coworking. I am happy to help our community to grow.
What I like the most about what I do is being able to meet so many inspiring people and hear their stories and what they’re passionate about. I am also really proud of being the Community Manager of the first coworking place in Gilroy!
I have a passion for learning languages, music, and painting. You can find me painting by the park, falling while I try to roller skate, and of course, at the front desk of Greenhouse Coworking. Please, feel free to come visit me. I would love to get to know all of our members.

Reed Thompson is a career-long Silicon Valley veteran, starting his career at Hewlett Packard, and then moving on to a fast-growth startup, Trace. Then, founding Youth Sports Network (now known as active.com), and later two other startups.
Reed is now working as the COO at Satellite Deskworks & Workplaces, primarily focusing on “Deskworks”.
“I move from one Satellite location to another, but I suppose “Home” is in Sunnyvale; as it is closest to my home – that’s what it is all about, right? Frankly, there are too many distractions in my home office, so the Satellite Workplace locations provide a welcoming home away from home. Also, the Members I’ve met are friendly and approachable.
I’m excited about my company Deskworks; we’ve really created an exemplary, timely, and important software solution for Coworking and Flex Space centers. The Deskworks team believes our solution is the very best available in the marketplace.
Lastly, I have 7 amazing kids (not really kids any longer) who are now beginning to add grandkids to the mix!”
