Hi! My name is Olivia and I’m the Community Manager at Satellite Workplace and Digital Media Studio in Santa Cruz. My background is in sports and sports facilities management. Before Satellite, I worked for the Santa Cruz Warriors where I learned about broadcasting, eventually becoming a member of the broadcast team.
I started working for Community Television of Santa Cruz County (CTV) as an operator in 2020 and transitioned to Community Manager of our coworking space in May of this year.
I love working around various digital media producers and artists. Our members are always respectful and bring bright smiles to the office. It’s exciting to come to work and feel a strong sense of community.
Something I did not expect when I started working for CTV and Satellite Workplaces is the excitement I find when learning about our members’ projects and creative outlets.
One of my favorite things about our location is the proximity to amazing food and the beach. I also really enjoy the bright atmosphere and open feel of the building.`
Outside of work, I love to read any and all types of books and I love being at the beach. My ideal days off are spent reading at the beach all day.

Our coworking space in historic downtown Felton has quite the past. This particular location holds a special place in the history of our company as the first-ever Satellite Workplace, opening its doors in 2009, before we even knew the term “coworking.”
Built in 1893, the building is the 2nd oldest in the town and has seen many incarnations over the years. It started its life as the Alcazar Dance Hall in the early days of the town, moving through tire store, appliance store, grocery store, and, for about 40 years, various banks.

The building has grown. Our “quiet room” and breakroom were once a driveway leading to the Ice House, before people had electric refrigeration. When we modernized our event space, we uncovered beautiful hand-floated glass windows that no one knew existed. Above the dropped ceiling, we found a wooden sign proclaiming, “Roy’s Market. Meat 5 cents!”

The transformation of this space into a modern, coworking space still fills us with pride. When the power’s down in town, our generator allows people to work. When people in the outlying areas lose satellite dish internet for Zoom calls, they can come here for the fiber we were able to bring in.

This is why we do what we do: allowing people in small towns to connect with each other, while working virtually anywhere in the world! Satellite Workplaces is truly a labor of love.

Two Bay Area real estate agents, Bob and Sandy Jamison, tell us about how they found their way into the industry and how they became the brokers and owners of Tuscana Properties.
What do you do for work?
We change people’s lives by helping them accomplish their real estate goals which is one of the biggest purchases they will make in their lifetime.
How did you initially get started in real estate?
Bob and I both started out working in the tech industry. Then we started investing very early on in our 20s. We decided to get our real estate license so we could buy and sell for ourselves. That led us into representing clients and ultimately become brokers and owners where we’ve built a team of agents.
Who or what is your biggest influence?
We have had several coaches over the past several years. Each of which have contributed greatly to our success in different ways. However, I believe the biggest influence is the strong work ethic and drive that both Bob and I share which makes us successful. We influence each other and support growth together.
What’s something you’re excited about right now?
We are very excited to be in one of the best markets in Real Estate – the Bay Area. Real Estate is ever-changing and Bob and I are good at quickly adapting to the trends to capitalize on the benefits.
What brought you to Satellite Workplaces?
We love the location and flexibility that Satellite Campbell has to offer. Our team likes the vibe of The Pruneyard and our clients love coming to this location to meet with us. Our favorite thing is the location and the modern vibe of the place. Ron has been super helpful to all of our needs
How do you balance your work and personal time?
We don’t have much balance in real estate. You work 7 days a week in this career. We just fit life in between all the rest of the work that has to get done. Some of those things we fit around our busy schedule are a Great Pyrenees dog, a guinea pig, a cat, a chicken, and 4 goats!

Jaideep Sen is the Chief Business Officer and Co-Founder of Minfy Technologies. He tells us about his role and what his interests and involvements are outside of the office.
Minfy is an AI solutions company. My work allows me to meet with customers and partners in different parts of the world. It is amazing to see how businesses around the globe are trying to solve the same problems and get to similar outcomes.
In my spare time, I mentor and advise startup founders and entrepreneurs to help them build and grow their businesses. I volunteer for several charitable activities in the US and abroad. I am also an amateur author, having previously published a book called Trappings of a Big Company. I am in the process of writing my second book now.
I love the ambiance around Satellite Sunnyvale – especially with all the free chocolates.
I like networking and connecting with people, so feel free to reach out if you want to talk about AI, singularity, food, or entrepreneurship.
