Meet the Team: Tori De Pina

Tori De Pina is our newest Community Manager at Satellite Campbell. She sits down with us to tell about her experience in life and her new role in the center.

What’s your background?

I come from a background shaped by the sacrifices made by my parents who immigrated here from Brazil to provide me with a better life and greater opportunities. These experiences are rooted in resilience and determination, highlighting the importance of perseverance and hard work. My versatile background in pre-nursing, sales, and data analytics has given me the opportunity to experience different types of work environments, allowing me to find myself and my passion along the way. With this diverse journey, I aim to pave the way for young adults, particularly Latinas, in the tech industry. My commitment is fueled by breaking barriers and creating a path for others to follow, inspired by the lessons learned from these sacrifices.

What brought you to Satellite Workplaces?

After completing the Year Up tech program, dedicated to closing the opportunity divide for young adults, I found myself uncertain about my next steps in the job market. Fortunately, I stumbled upon a Satellite job posting online and applied without much expectation. I was contacted a few days later and successfully navigated the interview process. Now, as the new Campbell Community Manager, I am relishing every learning and growth opportunity in my role.

What do you love about working at Satellite Workplaces?

I’m thrilled with the continuous support from my team. Starting a new position is never easy, but everyone has been incredibly helpful and patient. The environment encourages constant learning, and each day brings new opportunities to build upon my skills. Despite being new, I’ve had the chance to connect with members on a personal level. Every day at Satellite is unique and exciting, making work a dynamic and ever-changing experience.

What’s your favorite thing about your members?

I deeply appreciate the warm welcome from our members. While I’m naturally a social person, it usually takes me some time to feel completely comfortable being myself. From the very beginning, I’ve felt at ease enough to engage in conversations and truly be me. Many members have gone out of their way to get to know me, creating a sense of genuine belonging within the Satellite community.

What’s your favorite thing about your Satellite location?

I consider myself fortunate to work at The Pruneyard. I adore the peaceful atmosphere and the abundance of excellent food spots. Being surrounded by other businesses creates a sense of belonging to a vibrant community. It’s a place where there’s never a dull moment, and I appreciate the dynamic energy it brings to my work experience.

What’s something unexpected about working at Satellite Workplaces?

An unexpected perk of working at Satellite Workplaces is the diverse range of professionals and industries represented here. I’ve had the chance to connect with individuals from different backgrounds, leading to a rich and dynamic work environment.

What’s something you’re excited about right now?

I’m really excited about growing both professionally and personally. Right now, I’m balancing work and school, and I can’t wait to keep learning. It’s a bit challenging, but I find it invigorating to step out of my comfort zone. I’m looking forward to tackling new opportunities and facing different challenges along the way.

Can you tell us a little bit about yourself outside of work?

Outside of work, I’m currently wrapping up my associates degree in psychology. Family time is precious to me, and I often find joy in going on walks while soaking in some good music. Traveling is a passion, and this year, I’ve set a goal to be more spontaneous in my adventures. I consider myself an extroverted introvert – I love socializing, but I also cherish my alone time for some much-needed recharge.

Hi! My name is Sean and I am an applied analytics PhD man. I have worked for various companies analyzing data and writing reports.

I love the relaxed atmosphere here at The Satellite Flexible Workspace & Digital Media Studio. The people I have met here are great and I found The Satellite has made it easier to find friends and network. I think I can balance work and personal time because I try to carve out little moments throughout my day where I can step away from work and recenter my brain and I can be even more productive.

Meet the Team: Ann R. Mejia

I love that I now work in the town where I grew up. Sunnyvale sits in the middle of Silicon Valley and is very active. But it still feels like that small city of my childhood.

I didn’t think I’d come back. After earning a degree in International Business and moving from country to country, my itinerary didn’t include a return!  But family matters brought me back and I stayed. The pleasant surprise was that Sunnyvale was much more interesting than anticipated!

Or perhaps my mind was much more open?! There is plenty of beauty and adventure. There are so many interesting people. The variety of cuisine can hardly be beat anywhere.

I am most blessed in this phase of my life to have found a home at Satellite Workplaces. The intelligent, forward-thinking people are coming to me! We have such a blend of entrepreneurs.  Mixed in are remote workers, students and job-seekers. Perfect.

My background in the hospitality industry (and mama’s upbringing!), make my fit here at Satellite Workplaces ideal. I want to make members and guests right at home, and I will figure out how to get you what you need if I can’t get it myself.

Life is full of surprises. The Satellite is a place for me to work and be happy that I never anticipated. That open mind helps me look forward to everyday here!

Meet the Team: Niko Garrido

Meet the Team: Niko Garrido

Niko Garrido is a Community Manager at our Gilroy location who has a strong passion for coworking and the community it offers. He tells us some of the reasons he enjoys his role at Greenhouse as much as he does.

What’s your background?

Hello everyone – my name is Niko and I am the new Community Manager at Greenhouse Coworking in Gilroy! My background is in public relations. Before working for Greenhouse Coworking, I was a salesperson for Marc Jacobs. I worked with oversea bulk buyers, managing their large quantity purchases, and customer service. I also worked in event planning and DJ performing for a pop-up called The Rabbit Hole. We held music shows, art and clothing venues, poetry nights, and movie nights with a surprise guest, film director Joe Talbot. He did a Q/A for his film The Last Black Man in San Francisco.

What brought you to Satellite Workplaces?

Ever since working with my friends at The Rabbit Hole I always wanted to find a place in community building. My cousin owns a Coworking studio in the Philippines called Nook. I watched him build it from the ground up from 2017 to now. I love all the things he does for his workplace. He brings people together not only through his lovely studio, but also through the events he organizes and hosts there. With that being said, I’m happy to have found Greenhouse. I feel like this is what I’m meant to do – create communities and bring people together.

What do you love about working at Satellite Workplaces?

It is my third week working at Greenhouse and I already love the togetherness this workplace brings. People here are easy to talk to. Working with the Satellite team has been great. I like that we all care about building off new ideas and share the same views in community building.

What’s your favorite thing about your members?

Our members are super cool. I enjoy seeing the Digital Nest team and think their work is amazing. Carolina is so sweet and passionate about her work, and I really admire her philosophy.

What’s your favorite thing about your Satellite location?

One of my favorite things about this location is how open it is. The sun shines perfectly here which makes the space feel more alive. And our location! We’re in the heart of downtown Gilroy which has been experiencing a lot of development. There are block parties, parades, and many places opening up around us which is great for community building.

What’s something unexpected about working at Greenhouse?

I knew Greenhouse worked in media with CMAP TV, but I didn’t realize how much these resources were utilized. I even met the mayor of Gilroy on my second day working here while she was filming in the studio. That’s a big change of pace for me!

What’s something you’re excited about right now?

I am very excited to start planning more events. I think this is a great way to market our location to Gilroy. I want people in our city to participate in workshops and events and hope they spread the word about our lovely workplaces to others to either become a member or bring more people that would like to be a part of our community.

Tell us about yourself outside of work.

I started DJing about 3 years ago and it’s been great. I’m a resident DJ at Cardiff in Campbell and I am interested in doing weddings and other events of that caliber. I can play any genre and my style is playing more edits than originals. I’m trying to transition into a House/Techno and Disco style because I enjoy playing that most. It’s great seeing people’s reactions when I play music – a lot of dancing which is great for business.

Ramak “Remy” Razavi shares her experience from her first few months at Satellite Sunnyvale.

I just started at Satellite Workplaces Sunnyvale in September. It was very easy to find with a simple Google Search. Satellite has been friendly, easy to navigate, and better than I’d imagined when it comes to making friends and networking connections.

I am a Biosample Operation Manager at PPD Consulting Genentech. My company is a clinical research organization that provides services to biopharma biotech companies in their clinical trial management.

I used to work in a lab and an academic environment for a long time. I wanted to have a new adventure in the field of biotech.

My favorite thing about Satellite Workplaces is the friendly environment, nice location, and the building’s cleanliness. I am thriving while working here – being around good people.

Like many, I constantly seek a balance between work and personal time. While it depends on the volume of work I carry, I try to spend time walking, meditating, and social networking.
